Outspoken, Straightforward Generation, Group 015B.. LeeSsang, 24 2009

Don't know from when but lyrics have been carrying no more euphoric pattern of poem instead more direct, frank, provocative and verbal forms of expression and it reflects emotional or rational status of the generation of course. At first, it was different and weired for me but as I listened more, I was getting more addicted to the rhythm & lyrics cause it touched my peripheral nerves much stronger than when I listened to the classic music. I am sure that I am more fortunate than the people in the classic music only time to have more degree of freedom in choosing the music.. :p

Searching for Russia through plumbing YouTube, Apr 20 2009

Recently I'm getting addicted to the culture of Eastern Europe and Russia even though it is only through these exaggerated types of musical media. I used to get into know them a bit only through old literature like Dostoevsky, Tolstoy or Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn. After the collapse of the wall in Berlin followed by ending of cold war, I had more chance to get exposed to their culture of the eastern bloc through cinemas, plays or books but this type of music video seems to be working much more powerful than any other means.

Under the cold war ideology, Russia and all other eastern bloc countries under Soviet influence were categorized as enemy countries for a long time in my country till the end of my youth. No modern novel under Soviet regime, no movie, no music, of course no travel.. By then I could reach the forbidden countries only through classic music or literature created by the geniuses in old imperial Russia. All the masterpieces were as grand in scale and profound in depth as the huge mother nature and Orthodox church of Russia.
Then in early 1980, I read a book of 'Children of Arbat' by Anatolii Rybakov and I realized the fact that there were people with similar sort of joy, anger and agony in the country as well... And Kundera's 'Unbearable Lightness of Being' was really superb. And 'One Hundred Years of Solitude' was absolutely greatly written one though it's from central asian country, Khazahstan. Now I see lots of people from eastern Europe everywhere in other countries as well as in Korea working hard in many areas particularly in science and engineering. And enjoying their up-to-date musical achievement through on-line is another joy living in the technically enabled webified world.

A Song.. Shook Me Up and Awakening..: 노찾사 사계

To my confession, not until I heard this song, I didn't know or imagine that we had such tragic part of community in 1980s in Korea since I was just lucky enough without any financial problem under strong patronage of my parents...

The title of the song is "Four Seasons 사계 四季" and melody is as beautiful as Vivaldi's but lyric tells about young people working every day and night through the whole four seasons sitting in front of sewing machine.. to make living..

While I was kneeling down over the white & yellow flowers to smell the scent, they, as joyful as myself, were bending their back all day long to make the machine working for the shirts & pants.. to make small money.. to survive.. in the city of Seoul..

While I was sipping Margarita in the beach under the sun, they, same age with mine, just put the pedals on and on and on fully sweating.. for the sewing machine.. for the small money for living..

While I was whispering the romantic song of Elvis, Anything that part of you, stepping over the autumn leaves in the park arm in arm with my girl friend, they, as beautiful as the maple colors in the fall, kept running the machine.. for the small money of remittance for their parents, brothers or sisters living in the country village..

I was so guilty and shameful when I first heard the full lyric of the song that I drank almost a bottle of strong whisky paying fair amount of money at the decent bar and they were working on the machine still deep at night rubbing their hands against frost bite.
