the river runs through.. , St. Lawrence River Quebec Apr 24 2010

a history started as people gathered
around the mouth of the river.

as salty water turns into fresh one
people turned the natural landscape of lakes and forests
into their homes, gardens and fortress
generation by generation..

the river runs through as peaceful this morning
as it has been running for last couple of million years..

.. as if there has been nothing happening
in this beautiful city of Quebec..
.. without any name for a long long time.. naturally..

The Saint Lawrence River (fleuve Saint-Laurent) is a large river flowing approximately from southwest to northeast in the middle latitudes of North America, connecting the Great Lakes with the Atlantic Ocean. It traverses the Canadian provinces of Quebec and Ontario and forms part of the international boundary between Ontario and other places in the United States.

The river runs 3,058 km (1,900 mi) from the furthest headwater to the mouth and 1,197 km (743.8 mi) from the outflow of Lake Ontario.
